Information We Collect

This policy describes BREAKUP, an Android app that helps you reduce excessive app usage. It separates what BREAKUP itself handles from what third-party services may process.

Handled by BREAKUP. BREAKUP does not require an account or login, and it does not directly collect your name, email address, password, phone number, date of birth or profile information. BREAKUP does not operate its own backend or server.
Processed by third parties. BREAKUP uses Google AdMob to show ads. AdMob may collect and process information as described in the Advertising section. BREAKUP does not use Firebase Analytics or Firebase Crashlytics.

How BREAKUP Uses Information

BREAKUP works with the apps you choose and the settings you create on your device. It uses these only to provide its app-blocking features. It does not use them to create user profiles, and it has no server to send them to.

The app requires internet access mainly so that advertisements can be displayed. It does not currently require notification permission and does not provide notification-based features.

Accessibility Service

BREAKUP uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect the currently accessed application so that the app can enforce the user's selected app-blocking rules. This functionality is essential to the app's core purpose. It is not offered as a disability-assistance feature.

Why it is required

  • Blocking an app requires knowing when that app is opened.
  • Without the service, BREAKUP's main feature cannot work.

What it does

  • Detects when one of your selected apps is being accessed.
  • Lets BREAKUP apply your blocking rules at that moment.

What BREAKUP does not use it for

  • Reading passwords
  • Reading banking information
  • Capturing keystrokes
  • Collecting personal messages
  • Monitoring you for advertising

Where the data goes

BREAKUP does not operate its own backend for storing Accessibility Service information, and it does not upload this information to any server of its own.

You can turn the service off at any time in your device's Android settings. Blocking will then stop working.

Installed Applications

BREAKUP identifies relevant installed applications on your device using Android's launcher-app query mechanism. This allows you to see a list of apps and choose which ones to block. This information is used for app selection and blocking functionality on your device.

Advertising

BREAKUP displays advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and process information, such as device identifiers and ad interaction data, in accordance with Google's own policies and your applicable advertising settings. This processing is carried out by Google, not by BREAKUP.

To learn more, read Google's Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab). You can manage ad personalization in your Android device's Google settings.

Data Sharing

BREAKUP does not sell information and has no backend through which it shares your information with others. The only third-party service involved is Google AdMob, which may process information as described above.

Data Storage & Security

BREAKUP uses reasonable measures to protect the information handled by the application. However, no electronic system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

BREAKUP is not specifically directed toward children. Users should not provide personal information through the app. If you believe a child has provided personal information in connection with the app, please contact us using the details below.

Your Choices

  • Choose which apps BREAKUP blocks, and change that at any time.
  • Disable the Accessibility Service in Android settings.
  • Adjust ad personalization in your device's Google settings.
  • Uninstall BREAKUP at any time.

There are no user accounts, so there is no account to delete.

Third-Party Services

Third-party services, including Google AdMob, have their own privacy policies and practices. BREAKUP does not control them and is not responsible for how they handle information. Please review their policies.
